About Lynne Wright
Basically self-taught, sketching and painting have been my lifelong passion. I received a set of oil paints as a gift from my new husband the first Christmas we were married. Since that time I've employed the method of "learning by doing" as well as gleaning knowledge of technique and composition from a rich library of written art instruction. The unequaled beauty of God's creation has been my main inspiration.
Having lived much of my life on the Pacific Coast, I spent countless hours studying the moods of the sea and the constant mesmerizing movement of the water. Since moving to the Midwest, I've come to deeply appreciate the creation of rural landscapes and other gifts of nature. I find joy in translating both of these worlds onto canvas.
Among my favorite artists would be Paul Moon, Gordon MacKenzie, and the late Sharon Rickert and Stephen Lyman. Influenced by their respective techniques in both oils and watercolor, I work mainly in a representational style with a hint of impressionism. I have displayed in and sold from several galleries throughout the country.
I also enjoy teaching and sharing the fun of creating an original piece of art.
